The first page of our story board came from Nojus' story board, We decided that his was the best idea as it was the most conventional and best way to engage the audience. The idea is that we see the killer planning the murder and linking all the evidence together which will convey to the audience that he has thought out this idea which leaves the audience questioning why someone would go though all the trouble to try and plan out something in such depth. The hidden identity of the killer will allow the audience to question his identity and leaving them to wait until the end of the film to find out who is behind the mask. This idea is highly conventional to thriller films as the antagonists identity is usually hidden.
Ideas from my story board were also used, the weapon i chose was incorporated. There will be a shot of the creep dead and the knife next to him. This shot is called a kuleoshov. This particular shot will convey to the audience that a significant event has taken place, the murder of the creep as there is just a knife left the audience can tell there is a killer on the loose and that they are on the lose. This shot will create tension as the audience anticipate that if the killer is on the loose and wait for them to strike again.Another idea that was taken from my story board was the use of silence i decided that the only noise that the audience will be able to hear is the sound of the killers footsteps. This will create a mood the no other sound in the scene would do, it builds tension and makes the audience more involved as they will be focused on who is behind the point of view shot. This is a good way to let the audience try and work out who point of view they are looking though.
Overall our storyboard was conventional to the thriller genre as we all enveloped the best and most thriller like ideas from all of our story boards. By adding all of our ideas together we were ab le to make the best version of the narrative and how we were able to present it. This also made our storyboard more imaginative. We also have back up ideas if our story board idea doest work. For example if the chase sequence at the end looks bad we can use mine or Nojus' ending from our storyboards to finish the opening sequence.
In this storyboard we felt that the hidden identity of the killer should be used in our real filming process, this is because it is conventional to the thriller genre and will give the overall mood of the opening sequence a mysterious effect. The hidden identity will be created by the killer wearing a hooded jumper and his face not being within the focus of the camera. Although his identity is not fully hidden the audience will feel apprehensive towards him as they have no clue to what this person is capable of of his intentions.
We have divided to take the idea of the long shot from Harrys individual narrative as we felt like this creates an emotional connection with the audience as they can see how close the antagonist and the victim will be without the victim being aware. We also had the idea of the tracking shot shortly after this made the audience feel like the victim was easy to deceive.

You have provided a very basic analysis of your group’s storyboard, explaining some of what your sequence will consist of and how you hope the audience will react to it. However, you have not referred to all group member's ideas, or given specific micro-elements of what you intend to include.
ReplyDeleteYou need to:
1) Pick two specific examples of micro-elements used from each group member’s individual storyboard in the sequence that you feel are the most significant - do a detailed PEER analysis of these
2) Say what thrillers you, as a group, have taken inspirations from and why - where is this evident in your storyboard?
3) Elaborate on why it is important to come together as a group and create a final group storyboard before filming
